Fernando Knopf  

Bassist, Pianist, Producer, Arranger, Composer & Educator.

                                         

Fernando Knopf was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1977. His first’s connections with music began at his home in Buenos Aires, surrounded by Jazz, Classical and south-American music. He began studying Piano, Music Theory and vocal training with teachers from the Teatro Colon Symphonic Orchestra and Bass Guitar (Main Instrument) at age of 14 with Gustavo Gregorio methods in Buenos Aires, Oscar Stagnaro methods, Arie Volinez, Dr. Arnon Palty and double bassist Eli Magen.

                           

Fernando holds a B.Mus; Bachelor of Music (B.A) in Bass Guitar & Jazz performance from The Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem, and a Jazz Performance Major Degree from the Berklee affiliated “Rimon School of Music”.

 

From 2002 thru 2021 Fernando performed, produced, recorded and Toured with International Artists including:

 

Legendary Argentinean Singer Mercedes Sosa, Rock Legend Shalom Hanoch, Matti Caspi, Super Star Rita, Cuban master Pianist Chuchito Valdes, Grammy Award Winner MARLOW ROSADO (P.R/ Miami), NEA Master Trombonist Papo Vazquez, David Broza, Pedrito Martinez (Cuba–NYC), Tito Puente Jr. (Son of the Legend), Saxophonist Miguel Zenon (Puerto Rico/ NYC), Singer Maria de Barros (Cabo Verde),  Tres player Benjamin Lapidus, Percussionist/ Composer Samuel Torres (Colombia/ NYC), Saxophonist Willie Williams, Efrain Toro (Puerto Rico), Jazz singer Nancy King, Singer Deborah Brown, Gene Perry, Igor Arias Baro, Roberto Rodriguez (Cuba/ NYC), Percussionist Carlos Maldonado, Percussionist Gilad Dobrecky, saxophonist Eli Degibri, Pianist  Alon Yavnai, Joca Perpignan (Brazil), Flautist Itai Kriss, Trombonist Avi Lebovich, Zig Zag (NYC) , Missa Criolla with Ensamble Latino Americano, The Tel Aviv Jazz Big Band, The Israel Chamber Orchestra, Oud Player and Violinist Yair Dallal, and many more.

 

In November 2005 Fernando was granted and distinguished in Buenos Aires, Argentina with the 2005 “Jewish Cultural Achievement Award”.

 

On July 2006 Knopf was part of a special interview with Maestro Lalo Schifrin.

 

In 2006 Fernando released worldwide his Debut CD, "Latin Jazz Band", with the collaboration of distinguished Guest Artists. The Group performed extensively for 2 years.

 

In 2007 Mr. Knopf was part of the Worldwide Hard Salsa CD compilation by Latin Soul Records, NYC, USA.

 

In 2009 Fernando formed his new Quintet and released a Live Recording CD , recorded Live during a Tour of Concerts.

Knopf also performed with big success at the JazzPhest at the International House of Philadelphia, Sandton Conventions Center, Johannesburg, South Africa, Zinc Bar Jazz Club NYC, Café Wha New York, Red Sea Jazz Festival, EMJC (East Midwood Jewish Center) in Brooklyn, New York, The Israeli Parliament (The Knesset), Thelonius Club Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jamboree Club Barcelona, Café Populart Madrid, La Negra Tomasa Madrid,  Eilat Mediterranean Salsa Congress, Tel Aviv Jazz Festival, International Cruises around Europe, and many more.

 

From 2011 Mr. Knopf is the Founder, Musical Director & Executive Producer of Latin Power Productions.

 

In addition, Fernando teaches since 2009 at the "Rimon School of Music", directs the Latin Jazz/Salsa Orchestra, Latin American Music Courses, Latin Basslines, Ensembles and directs the Summer Workshops.

Knopf was also the Artistic Director of the Jam Sessions at the Red Sea Jazz Festival 2011.

 

On September 2012 Fernando wrote and produced a new Multimedia Music Courses for "Rhythm Section" & The Secrets to "How to Play Music together" with "sCoolTV".

 

On May 2013 Fernando produced and performed in a Tour of concerts with Grammy Award Winner & Master Percussionist and composer Samuel Torres.

 

On August 2013 Fernando produced and performed in a special big concert for the Colombian Embassy for the "Colombia Independence Day" in Tel Aviv.

 

On November 2013 Fernando produced a special concert of the music of Ruben Blades for the Panama Embassy in Tel Aviv at the Hilton Hotel.

From December 2013 Fernando performs and produces the very successful Show "Tribute to the Buena Vista Social Club" by Latin Power, featuring singer Italo Gonzalez, 8 musicians, dancers and Video Art.

 

Fernando's last Album CD "La Musica es Sentimientos", was released worldwide on September 2014.

 

On March 2015 Fernando performed and Toured in Johannesburg, South Africa, at the "Sandton Conventions Center" Israeli EXPO with the "Jewish Label Band".

 

On May 2015 Fernando produced a Tango  Concert by "Mariel Martinez y la Portena Tango Trio" (Buenos Aires/ Spain) on the Festival Aviv Rishon LeZion, Israel.

 

On October 2015 Knopf performed with Virtuoso Pianist Chuchito Valdes (Cuba) all over Israel  8 sold out Concerts at the Hot Jazz Series.

 

On November 2015 Fernando Toured with his NYC Quintet on USA, with big success performing at the "JazzPhest" at the International House of Philadelphia, at the Zinc Bar Jazz Club New York City, at the legendary Café Wha, and at the East Midwood Jewish Center in Brooklyn, NYC.

The Fernando Knopf NYC Quintet features the greats: Itai Kriss (master flutist), Igor Arias Baro (singer and percussionist), Jack Glottman (Piano) and Norbert Goldberg (Drums).

On March 2016 Knopf performed again with Virtuoso Pianist Chuchito Valdes (Cuba)  Sold Out Concerts at the Opera House (Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center) and at Zappa Club.

                        

On July 2016 Fernando performed and produced 3 Sold Out Concerts with Grammy Award Winner Percussionist/ Composer/ Arranger Samuel Torres, Colombian singer Maria Raquel & Latin Power Group (Colombia/ NYC).

On March 2017, Fernando performed 4 Concerts with singer Maria de Barros (Cabo Verde) including a big show at the Israeli Opera House (Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center).

On October 2017, Fernando Produced an amazing Sold Out Salsa Show in Israel with Grammy Award Winner MARLOW ROSADO (Puerto Rico/ Miami), with the Latin Power Orchestra.

                                                                   

In November 2017, Fernando performed 8 Latin Jazz Sold Out Concerts with NEA Latino Master Trombonist Papo Vazquez (Puerto Rico/ NYC), Cuban Pianist Chuchito Valdes, Saxophonist Willie Williams, Percussionist Carlos Maldonado and drummer Roni Zadik.

On December 2017 Fernando performed with his Latin Jazz Quintet @ Tel Aviv Jazz Festival.

On June 2018, Knopf was awarded with the recognition of Excellence and Best Ensemble Teacher of the year at Rimon School of Music.

July 2018, Knopf wrote and recorded a song for Superstar Israeli national singer RITA.

 

From September 2018 till today, Fernando is performing with big success with the Israeli legends MATTI CASPI & SHALOM HANOCH all over Israel Concerts at the biggest Venues for thousands sold out Crowds.

Currently Fernando is Producing a New big Show by Latin Power Productions to be Premiered on 2021.
